Stop procrastinating and go all in on your dreams.

Stop making excuses and go all in on your dreams.

“Real growth starts when you get tired of your own excuses”. Read that again. I came into the new year with so much excitement, expectation, and energy to go all in on my dreams. Partly because I had some hard conversations with myself at the end of 2023, and partly because I was tired of my excuses. In this blog post, I’ll be sharing tips to help you stop procrastinating and go all in your dreams.

Before we get into the tips, I want you to reflect on a few questions before and after the blog post:

  1. What do you believe is stopping you from achieving your dreams?

  2. What do you have to lose by going all in on your dreams?

  3. What would your life look like if you stopped procrastinating and did everything in your power to materialize your dreams?

It’s so easy for us to step into the unknown without reflecting and I believe reflection gives us time to sit still and be real with ourselves about what we’re experiencing or have experienced in life. To stop procrastinating and go all in your dreams, you need to start with the vision.

Tip #1 Write your vision

A few days ago, Icame across two podcast episodes about vision on The Called Podcast by Toure Roberts. In part 2 of The Velocity of Vision, Pastor Toure teaches us the importance of pursuing our vision, protecting our vision, and preparing for the vision. This podcast episode is so good; I’ve watched it multiple times to really understand what he’s saying, and it hits different everytime! Watch the video below.

Tip #2 Practice small disciplines daily

I started the new year reading this book by John C. Maxwell titled How Successful People Grow and in chapter 5 of the book he shares 3 strategies to grow in consistency. We throw around the word “consistency”, but have you ever thought about how to grow in your consistency? Consistency isn’t innate, it can be developed. After reading this short paragraph from the book, I learned consistency is deeper than showing up daily. We all need a strong “why” to fuel us. Your “why” is your battery pack that empowers you to keep going.

How Suceessful People Grow | Chapter 5

“Knowing what to improve and how to improve are critical to consistency in personal growth. But so is knowing why. The how and what will take you only so far. The why is what keeps you motivated long after that first rush of energy and enthusiasm wears off. It can carry you through when willpower isn’t enough. Think of it as why-power. Having a strong why will help you keep going when the discipline of learning becomes difficult, discouraging, or tedious.”

I talk more about this in my YouTube video “Financial Freedom Takes Commitment, watch it here and purchase How Successful People Grow- it’s a great read!

Tip #3 Keep pressing

Don’t let life or difficult seasons consume you! Pick your head up, pray, be real with God, and keep pressing! You have to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Sometimes we’re too busy looking at the obstacles we face as obstacles instead of opportunities. Shift your perspective and keep pressing.

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9 NLT

Now let’s double back to the questions I challenged you to answer at the beginning of this blog post:

  1. What do you believe is stopping you from achieving your dreams?

  2. What do you have to lose by going all in on your dreams?

  3. What would your life look like if you stopped procrastinating and did everything in your power to materialize your dreams?

Remember, real growth starts when you get tired of your own excuses. I believe 2024 will be a transformative year for you when you write your vision, practice discipline daily, and keep pressing. If you’re ready to stop procrastinating and go all in on your dreams, COMMIT!
